Short Biography

Dr. Azharul Islam is an associate professor of Educational and Counselling Psychology at the University of Dhaka. He obtained Ph.D. from Monash University and a master’s degree in health psychology from the University of Westminster in London. In addition, he has an MPhil and another master’s degree in counselling psychology from his current affiliated university. Dr. Islam’s research interest is in the development of self and identity by examining autobiographical memory and autobiographical narratives. His research has been published in top-tier journals.

As a practicing counselling psychologist, Mr. Islam also writes for popular media such as internet blogs and newspapers and appears on TV talk shows. His three books on psychological well-being, written in Bangla, received well-appreciation from young readers. He has founded an online platform called ‘Monojogimon,’ which disseminates educational content to raise mental health awareness. Recently, Dr. Islam has developed an online course on research data analysis in Bangla with restriction-free access for students, researchers, and faculty members in psychology and allied fields. The development of such a high-quality, easy-to-access online course is crucial in advancing the research interest among emerging researchers.
