Short Biography
Md. Mosfequr Rahman, PhD, is a Professor of Population Science and Human Resource Development, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Dr. Rahman has completed his PhD in Medical Sciences (maternal and child health) from Kanazawa Medical University, Japan. His areas of expertise include gender-based violence (e.g., intimate partner violence, sexual harassment), pregnancy intention, mental health, and maternal and child health and nutrition.
A social epidemiologist by training his research mainly focuses on social determinants of adolescent and adult women’s health and gender equity with an emphasis on gender-based violence, its prevention, and its implications for reproductive and mental health. Dr. Rahman has led several nationally and internationally funded studies on these topics, and has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, including in top-tier scientific journals. His current study explores adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and its subsequent physical, mental and academic consequences among young-adults in Bangladesh. He manages a strong research group working on gender-based violence in Bangladesh in collaboration with other researchers from the USA and Japan. Dr. Rahman has been awarded several awards for his scholarly works.
