Short Biography

I am Prof. Dr S M Rafiquzzaman, currently working as Professor and Dean, Faculty of Fisheries, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University. I have been involved in research and academics since 2004 soon after awarding MS and BS in Fisheries from Bangladesh Agricultural University. I have started my carrier as an aquaculture scientist in Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI). Then I switched to the teaching profession in the Department of Fisheries Biology and Aquatic Environment, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU www.bsmarau.edu.bd).

After joining in the university, I have received Korean Government Scholarship for pursuing the PhD in the Department of Biotechnology, Pukyong National University, Busan, South Korea which most renowned university in the field of fisheries science. I am currently doing researches on different cross-cutting issues related to blue economy and fisheries like development of organic shrimp farming, identifying indigenous probiotics with different exoenzymes, aquaculture and functional activity of seaweed, low-cost aquafeed development through financial assistance of different national and international funding organizations. I have already published 35 publications in different national and international peer-reviewed journals. Apart from my PhD and on-going research, I have been maintaining a strong intimate with this area of research and development and have participated in many seminar, symposium, training and workshop both nationally and internationally. I am also working as consultant at different national and organizations. I have supervised more than 30 students as major supervisor and supervisory committee. Besides the academic and research, I also involved in different administrative responsibilities including Head of the Department, Provost at residential hall, additional director, institutional quality assurance cell and other nationally important committee member. I feel comfortable processing several challenging things at one time.
