Short Biography
Dr. Sharmin Aqter Rony is a veterinary parasitologist. She graduated in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and completed her MS in Parasitology degree from the department of Parasitology of the same university. As Additional Veterinary Surgeon in a project entitled ‘Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Active Surveillance Program’, funded by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)-Bangladesh and Department of Livestock Services of Bangladesh, Dr. Rony has served for a year.
Since 2011, she has been working as a faculty in the department of Parasitology, BAU. She was offered with Directorate General for Developmental Cooperation (DGDC) fellowship 2011-12 for conducting MSc at Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerpen, Belgium and FedUniPRS scholarship for PhD study at Federal University, Victoria, Australia. But she availed herself with the DAAD scholarship for her PhD degree at the Institute of Animal Science, University of Bonn, Germany. Immunoparasitology is her main research interest with particular emphasis on host-protozoan interaction and innate immunity. During her career, she has published a number of peer reviewed article in a number of journals. Currently she is engaged as principal investigator in a number of projects in her department.
