Short Biography

Dr Tarik is working as a Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) of BUET. He has more than 14 years of hands-on experiences in the development of medical devices. He was the first full time faculty member of the department, where he has developed curriculum, designed and developed state-of-the-art laboratory facilities etc.

He has been working closely with Bangladesh Government institutes, like DGDA, DGHS, CMSD, BMRC on technical, regulatory and health policy issues related to medical device. He is involved in Bangladesh Biology Olympiad as the President of Dhaka South region. Prior to join at BME, BUET, he was working as a Research Fellow at University of Leeds, where he worked on the development of non-woven based medical device. Before that he was working at Micron Technology Inc. as a Senior Process and Equipment Engineer (Lithography), where he led in different world-wide collaborative projects to improve production yield and quality. Dr Tarik’s PhD in Biomedical Engineering was from National University of Singapore (NUS). His PhD work consists of designing, developing and fabricating scaffolds using new generation of biomaterials which are osteoconductive and mechanically compatible for bone. During his PhD he was attached IMRE, A*STAR, Singapore.
